The Goddards have previously run their cycle building
and repair business at No
44 Church Street, moving to
63 High Street and thence to these more substantial
premises.
1924 Abner Goddard - Cycle Dealer and Motor
Garage (K1924). The business has now diversified into
motor repairs. The premises benefits from having a rear
yard which backs onto Nos
9-11 Victoria Street where they are able to build
a repair shed.
1933 Abner Goddard - Cycle Dealer and
Motor Garage (K1933, 1937). By this time, the Goddards
have also acquired a filling station and a plot of
lock-up garages at No
4 Victoria Street.
1939 Southwold & District Service Garage (SRB1939).
The business closes this year with the start of the
War.

Commandeered by the British Army Eastern Command (Bulldogs) (SRB 16.8.1940)
1990 Mr & Mrs Allerton
- 'Lylies', Ladies' clothes,
wool haberdashery.. Closes
this year on the retirement of Mr & Mrs Allerton.
